Internet links to Iowa government agencies, statutes, regulations, cases, etc. are posted by FindLaw and WashLaw. Primary legal materials are also available fromLexis and Westlaw. Google Scholar has free cases back to 1950. Subscription servicesVersuslaw and Fastcase have cases back to 1950 as well. Supreme and appellate court cases are published in the North Western Reporter.

Information about bills introduced in the current and previous sessions is available through the Iowa Legislature website. For legislative intent research, the Archives page has an impressive collection of bills, session laws, reports, journals, committee information and superseded state statutes going back in some cases to 1995. For questions, call the Legislative Information Office (515-281-3566 or -8817) and/or the Legislative Library (515-281-3312).

The Legislature’s Statutory Law page links to historical editions of the Iowa Code back to 1839. The Legislature also posts the current Iowa Administrative Code, as well as historical editions back to 1998. The State Law Library posts the Governor’s Executive Orders.
