The American Law Institute (www.ali.org) publishes the Model Penal Code. For information about the Model Energy Code, click here.
Insurance: The National Association of Insurance Commissioners publishes Model Laws. To get copies, see “National Association of Insurance Commissioners.”

Securities: The NASAA-ABA Model Control Share Act was published, with a Preliminary Statement and Comments, at 20 (BNA) Securities Regulation & Law Report 708 (May 6, 1988).

Tax Treaties: Model tax treaties are used by nations as a starting point for negotiations. Significant model tax treaties include the United States Model Income Tax Convention, available from the U.S. Treasury, the OECD’s Model Tax Convention on Income and Capital and the United Nations Model Double Taxation Convention between Developed and Developing Countries.

Model Acts Materials

Some Model Acts are published in West’s Uniform Laws Annotated, including theModel State Administrative Procedure Acts of 1961 and 1981.

The American Bar Association publishes a number of Model Acts including the Model Business Corporation Act and the Model Nonprofit Corporation Act. The MBCA is discussed further in the “Corporate Law” entry. The RMNCA is discussed in the “Nonprofit Organizations” entry.

The National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws posts the full text and related information for some of their Model Acts. NCCUSL Acts are generally referred to as “Uniform Laws” and are discussed further in the Uniform Laws entry on this legal Encyclopedia.
