In French law. The assignee of a bankrupt. One who is chosen to conduct the affairs and attend to the concerns of a body corporate or community. In this sense, the word corresponds to director or manager. Rodman, Notes to Code de Com. p. 351; Civ. Code La. art. 429 ; Dalloz.
