Private Law

Private Law in the United States

Public And Private Law

Public law is the law that relates to the public as a whole, rather than to a specific individual. It involves the authority of the federal and state governments to make laws and of federal and state executives to issue orders, as well as administrative law (in U.S. law) and criminal law (in U.S. law). Private law is that body of the law that pertains to the relationship between individuals as such. It includes laws regulating contracts, sales, agency, negotiable instrument (in U.S. law), and business organizations. (Revised by Ann De Vries)
