(Lat.) Lese majesty, or injured majesty; high treason. It is a phrase taken from the civil law, and anciently meant any offense against the king’s person or dignity, defined by 25 Edw. III. c. 6. Glanv. lib. 5, c. 2; 4 Sharswood, Bl. Comm. 75; Bracton, 118. See “Crimen.”
