Fresh Suit Definition

(Law Lat. recens insecutio). In English law. Immediate or speedy pursuit or prosecution. The pursuit of an offender or felon as a thief immediately or as soon as possible after the robbery, including the prosecution of such pursuit until the apprehension and conviction of the offender. The object of this was to enable the party to recover his goods, which otherwise would belong to the king. Britt. c. 15. The early and speedy prosecution of a suit. St. Gloc. c. 9.
