Bounty

Bounty in United States

Bounty Definition

An additional benefit conferred upon, or a compensation paid to, a class of persons. It differs from a reward, which is usually applied to a sum paid for the performance of some specific act to some person or persons. It may or may not be part of a contract. Thus, the bounty offered a soldier would seem to be part of the consideration for his services. The bounty paid to fishermen is not a consideration for any contract, however.
