Concept of Elite Theory

In the U.S., in the context of Political Economy and Public Policy, Elite Theory has the following meaning: A sociological/political theory holding that power in American society (government and economics) is wielded by a relatively small group of people who are not only from the upper classes, but who share values and interests.
