Boolean Logic in the Context of Law Research

The Thurgood Marshall School of Law Library defined briefly Boolean Logic as: A form of search strategy used in databases, such as Westlaw and LexisNexis. In a Boolean search, connectors such as AND, OR, and NOT are used to construct a complex search command. The command “fungible and gasoline” for example, retrieves documents in which the term fungible and the term gasoline both appear.
