Prison Management in the United States
Prison Current Issues in the United States
Introduction to Prison Management
Prisons today face difficult problems of operation and management. At the heart of many problems is prison overcrowding. Overcrowded conditions lead to many secondary problems, including increased litigation by prisoners and their advocates. Faced with rapidly expanding prison populations, some governments, seeking to shrink their expenditures, have attempted to involve the private sector in prison operation. This privatization of prisons, in turn, poses new challenges.” (1)
