Knights Templars Definition

An order of knights so called from having their first residence in some apartments adjoining the temple at Jerusalem; and their employment was to guard the roads for the securKNOCK DOWN ity of pilgrims in the Holy Land. They came into England in the reign of Stephen, where they increased so much in wealth and power that they were considered dangerous to the state, and the order was suppressed in 1312.
