Suing And Laboring Clause Definition

A clause in an English policy of marine insurance, generally in the following form: “In case of any loss or misfortune, it shall be .lawful for the assured, their factors, servants, and assigns, to sue, labor, and travel for, in, and about the defense, safeguard, and recovery of the” property insured, “without prejudice to this insurance; to the charges whereof we, the assurers, will contribute.” The object of the clause is to encourage the assured to exert themselves in preserving the property from loss. 15 C. B. (N. S.) 291; 2 Q. B. Div. 501; 4 App. Cas. 755.
