Speculum Definition
(Lat.) Mirror or looking glass. The title of several of the most ancient law books or compilations. One of the ancient Icelandic books is styled Speculum Regale. In the preface to this work, four others, bearing the same title of Speculum, are referred to. There is also a collection of the ancient laws of Pomerania and Prussia, under the same title. Barr. Obs. St. 1, 2, note (b).
