Practical Information
Note: Some of this information was last updated in 1982
A written representation contained in a legal instrument (in U.S. law) of a particular piece of land, the appurtenances, and any manmade improvement attached to it. Such representation is usually made from other documents or from an abstract of title (in U.S. law). You must be exceptionally accurate in preparing the instrument that describes real property (in U.S. law). Property is never identified solely by street and number because the names and numbers of streets might change. For details on how to prepare real property descriptions, see land description (in U.S. law).
