“As much as he deserved.” The law imposes an obligation to pay without regard to the intention of the parties, but based on the law of natural justice and equity. For example, if a doctor renders emergency services to an accident victim, the law assumes the implied consent of the victim and the doctor may bring an action in quantum meruit to recover the reasonable value of his or her services.
