Notarial Certificate in Apostille and Authentication Issuance

A notarial certificate must be compliant with state law. It must meet state requirements and not exceed the authority of a notary in that state. A notarial certificate must be attached, but it is not the duty or responsibility of the notary or competent authority to determine the type of certificate, i.e., whether the notarial act should have been an acknowledgment, jurat, etc.
