LEGISLATURE

Bills [3]. Search bills since 1995 by keyword, bill number, sponsor, category, committee, or Public Act affected. Search results include bill text, legislative analysis, Senate and House journals, and law text when applicable.

Michigan Compiled Laws [4]. Search for the full text of existing Michigan law by codification number, Public Act Number and keyword.

Public Acts [5]. Search public acts since 2003 by number and by keyword.

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE

Michigan Farm Market and U-Pick Directory[6] This is a guide to farm markets, u-pick farms and agro-tourism opportunities. You can search by farm name, crop, county or region. There are separate listings for community or municipally sponsored farmers markets and cider mills.

Licensed Nursery Stock Dealers [7] This is a list of licensed individuals and businesses engaged in selling nursery stock or herbaceous perennials licensed in the state of Michigan. It is searchable by name, city, county or zip code.

Licensed Nursery Stock Growers [8] This is a list of licensed individuals and businesses engaged in growing nursery stock or herbaceous perennials licensed in the state of Michigan. It is searchable by name, city, county or zip code.

CENTER FOR EDUCATIONAL PERFORMANCE & INFORMATION

Student Data and Reports[9] The Center for Educational Performance & Information (CEPI) collects data from school districts. On this page, you will find links to various data and reports about students including headcount, FTE, expulsions, graduation and dropout rates. When you download a datafile, be sure you also download or print out the “field description” text file.

DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

Offender Tracking Information System – From the web site, “OTIS is intended to offer information to the public that can then be verified through the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC), Michigan Courts, the Michigan State Police or other law enforcement agencies. A search of OTIS will provide information about offenders previously or currently under the jurisdiction or supervision of the MDOC. A search result will provide information about any offender who is, or was, in a Michigan prison, on parole or probation under the supervision of the MDOC, has transferred in or out of Michigan under the Michigan Interstate Compact, or who has escaped or absconded from their sentence.” Database can be searched by a number of criteria, including marks, scars and tattoos.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

Michigan School Report Card [10] Search schools by name, school district or zip code. Search results provide a list of schools and links to their scores for student achievement in language and mathematics as well as indicators of school performance (teacher quality, student dropout rate).

DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY

Pollution Emergency Reporting System [11] Search by county and/or year for a list of reports to DEQ on environmental pollution since 1996. Data includes the name of the person submitting the report, the address, and type of problem (oil slick on pond, leak from electrical pole).

DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY, ARTS AND LIBRARIES

Michigan County Clerks Directory [12] The Archives of Michigan has developed this directory for genealogists. The directory is arranged alphabetically by county. Entries contain: address, phone number, FAX number (where available), e-mail address (where available), genealogy research hours, identification requirements for use of records, cost of certified copy/additional copies, cost of genealogical records copies, other copy fees, comments such as whether the records are microfilmed or whether there is seating capacity for genealogists, and a list of available records and inclusive dates of the records.

Historic Sites Online [13] This site provides information on and a map for locating over 3,500 historic sites in Michigan. You can search the database by keyword or by community. There are also lists of all National Historic Landmarks in Michigan, all Michigan sites on the National Register, and all sites on the Michigan Register.

Statewide search for Child Day Care Centers and Homes [14] Search for licensed child care providers by county, zip code, name, type, or license number.

DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

Occupational Projections: Long Term [15] Estimates the number of job openings and percent growth of individual jobs in Michigan’s economic areas (e.g. number of new bartenders needed annually in Ann Arbor through 2014).

Verify a License/Registration[16]. Choose a profession requiring a state license (e.g. builder, dentist) and a person to determine the license number, license expiration date, and whether there are complaints

Wages by Job Title [17] Select geographic area within Michigan, year, occupation, industry, and type of wage (median, percentile) to find salaries for a particular job. Data comes from the BLS Occupational Employment Survey.

Corporation Search [18] Search for records of corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships authorized to transact business in the State of Michigan.

Michigan Talent Bank [22] Free database permitting job seekers to create online resumes and search for open positions in the state by keyword, employer, and/or city. Job postings provide a complete description, application information, and driving directions to the employer. Michigan employers can register to search resumes.

STATE POLICE

Sex Offenders [23] Search for an individual sex offender by name or age and all sex offenders living in a city, county for zip code. Search results include the individual, a picture, address, and type of previous crime.
