Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) in Environmental Law

A database, created and maintained by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), that provides health information on specific substances. It reflects the EPA consensus opinion on the substances and includes information on hazard identification and a determination of how likely a substance is to increase the occurrence or severity of an adverse health effect. The database also provides dose response or information about the relationship between dose and the effect. IRIS is used by the EPA when developing site-specific information. The public may provide information to the IRIS database and access the data.
