Waiver in the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act of 1976

According to research about Immunity Waiver from the Federal Judicial Center:Section 1605(a)(1) provides an exception to immunity when the foreign state has waived its immunity “either explicitly or by implication, notwithstanding any withdrawal of the waiver which the foreign state may purport to effect except in accordance with the terms of the waiver.”105 Like other exceptions, this provision operates to limit the statutory grant of federal question jurisdiction.
