Concept of Federal Reserve Board

In the U.S., in the context of Political Economy and Public Policy, Federal Reserve Board has the following meaning: The federal independent regulatory commission in charge of the nation’s monetary policy. Known by the nickname “the Fed,” it affects economic behavior by expanding or contracting the supply of money. It does so by adjusting banks’ reserve requirements and setting discount rates that will be charged to its member banks thus affecting interest rates paid by borrowers and consumers.
