Brehon Law Definition

The ancient system of Irish law; so named from the judges, called “Brehons,” or “Breitheamhuin.” Its existence has been traced from the earliest period of Irish history down to the time of the Anglo-Norman invasion. It is still a subject of antiquarian research. An oubline of the system will be found in Knight’s English Cyclopaedia.
