Berkeley Journal of International Law (BJIL)

The Berkeley Journal of International Law (BJIL) is edited and produced by students at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law.

BJIL’s twice-yearly print journal publishes a broad range of scholarship that spans public international, private international, and comparative law disciplines. We endeavor to publish a diverse spectrum of viewpoints, perspectives, and approaches to international legal issues. Articles range from broad theoretical and general policy pieces to those narrow in scope and practical in application.

BJIL also produces Publicist, an online-only journal that allows for faster publication of ideas in a shorter and more accessible format than the traditional printed Law Review.

In addition to publication, BJIL organizes the annual Stefan A. Riesenfeld Symposium, through which leading scholars and practitioners assemble to address pressing international legal issues.

BJIL partners with the International Law Society (ILS} and other campus organizations to foster a community of students interested in international law.
