Accession in United States
Accession Definition
To Property. The right to all which one’s own property produces, whether that property be movable or immavable, including the increase of animals, and the right to that which is so united to it, either naturally i or artificially, as not to be readily separable. See 45 Vt. 4; 2 Kent, Comm. 360; 2 Bl. Comm. 404. See “Confusion of Goods.” It is sometimes used in a narrower sense, as including only the acquirement by the owner of property of that which is added to or incorporated with it, as by the erection of additions to a building, the setting out of trees, etc., and in this sense is to be distinguished from “specification,” which is the transformation of property into another species by the labor of another, as by the sawing of trees into lumber. See 2 Bl. Comm. 404. Distinction between “accession” and “confusion,” see “Confusion of Goods.” In International Law. The absolute or conditional acceptance, by one or several states, of a treaty already concluded between other sovereignties. Merlin, Repert.
