Pending Lawsuits

To find out if a person or business is involved in a pending lawsuit, you can search:

  • A docket sheet database that gets data from the relevant court system (see “Docket Sheets” in this legal Encyclopedia);
  • A lawsuit database on a system such as Accurint, KnowX.com, Westlaw (use the “LS” database to search the whole U.S. or “XX-LS” for an individual state) to find state civil lawsuits (i.e., not criminal or Federal);
  • A legal news databases on Lexis or Westlaw;
  • Google, Bing or another good search engine;
